The Parkway Animal Hospital staff treats your pet like "one of the family". As all staff members are pet owners themselves, they know how important your pet's health care is to you. Below is a photo and short biography of each of our staff members.

 Dr. Joel Nelson is both the owner and a veterinarian at Parkway Animal Hospital. He grew up in a small farming and ranching community in the Texas Panhandle. He obtained his B.S. from Texas A&M University in 1991 and his D.V.M. from Oklahoma State University in 1995. He married in 1995 to Allison McMillan and they have one child Kyle, born in 1998. They are expecting their second child in August of this year. Dr. Nelson practiced at Parkway Animal Hospital for 2 years prior to purchasing it from Dr. Joe Cannon in 1999. Dr. Nelson specializes in small animal and exotic veterinary medicine. He is a member of TVMA, AVMA, TAVP, ACVMA, and is currently serving a 2 year term on the Grand Prairie Animal Advisory Board. He has 4 pets: Henry, a Cocker Spaniel, cats Milo, Gabby, and Annie, and a Silky Terrier (rescued) named Maggie.
